PM inaugurates 1st polytechnic
BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated Nepal’s first polytechnic at Morang on Monday.
Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic is situated at Hattimudha VDC near Biratnagar in Morang.
It has been established with the assistance of NRs 46 cores from the Government of India under India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme on the request of Government of Nepal.
The polytechnic is affiliated to the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). It also offers three year diploma courses in Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. It has targeted to fill the gap of middle level human resources and expertise in the field of engineering and aims to provide employable skills to the students. It will also offer short-term courses tailored to suit the requirements of the Nepalese Industries.
However, the government of India also dedicated to provide Indian expertise under faculty support to the polytechnic for a period of five years.
Meanwhile ambassador of India, Rakesh Sood inaugurated the road approach from Manmohan Chowk at Biratnagar to Dharan highway and Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic, which has been built with the assistance of NRs 1.94 crore from the Government of India.
India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over NRs 2570 crores with more than 350 large and small projects currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development.
