KATHMANDU: Police arrested around 60 contract teacher of the Tribhuvan University (TU) when they agitated in the prohibited area in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

According to Pradeep Bohara, a teacher of Sanothimi Campus, they have been protesting since 21 days due to the apathy of the TU. He explained that they had urged the TU for fresh internal recruitment as soon as possible for the permanency of their jobs. He informed that the other universities like Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, Purwanchal University had already granted permanent status to contract teacher after a few years.

The police generally release them after detaining them for a couple of hours.
