Stealth is boring
Dir: Rob Cohen
Cast: Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx
Plot: Two guys, one girl and Edi make up most of this film. Edi, by the way, is the name of the supersonic, futuristic plane, which is what Stealth is all about. Ben (Josh Lucas), Henry (Jamie Foxx) and Kara (Jessica Biel) are part of this highly secret team that flies stealth fighter jets. When their commanding officer introduces Edi (an artificial intelligence based plane) to join their team, the trio realises things will soon get out of hand. However, in the next 60 minutes or so the entire film gets haywire.
Acting: What the hell is Jamie Foxx (Oscar winner for best actor last year) doing in this rusty movie? This is the million-dollar question that will haunt you till the very last minute of Stealth. Guess Foxx also wondered the same and called for an early exit from the film. The less said about his supporting cast the better — there are times when the Edi’s robotic talk sounds more inspired than the clichéd lines the actors mumble.
What’s hot: There’s hardly anything that works for Stealth, not even the special effects. Our local Shaktimaan impresses more than this tin bomber.
What’s not: If you think about the movie the next day, you realise that it does entertain in a dark, brooding sort of way. Take a bunch of friends, make sure there’s loads of popcorn and soda and cheer every time you see the Stealth doing death-defying turns and twists on screen.
Bottom line: If you have the courage to venture out and watch Stealth, then in the words of a true Jedi, “May the force be with you”.
