Tuladhar creates magic
KATHMANDU: Resonating with the classical ragas and tunes, the auditorium of Nepal Music Centre (NMC) on April 1 offered a mesmerising musical treat for the audiences through the soulful music of the sitar, tabala and tanpura. Prominent sitar player Tara Bir Singh Tuladhar performed during the monthly programme of classical music — Sastriya Sudha where Ananta Prajapati accompanied him in the tabala and Padma Hira Sthapit in tanpura.
The musical evening began with the alap of Bhimpalasi Raga, where the artistes created a soothing melody with sitar and tanpura. Then, with the inclusion of beats of the tabala, the raga shifted to Bilambeet Laya, where the tempo picked up. The gradual increase in tempo added energy to the performance with Madhya, Druta and Jhala Layas. The magic of the artistes’ fingertips and their brilliant synchronisation made the performance memorable. Similarly, Bhairabi Dhun, an original composition of Tuladhar was another equally enthralling tune. The tune that released the emotions of both joy and pathos not only captivated the audience but also received applause time and again during the performance.
After listening to such a soulful classical music, senior musician Dipak Jangam shared, “I am pleased to listen to classical music by the veteran musician (Tuladhar) after a long time,” adding that Tuladhar “has still maintained his excellence on performance”.
He also said, “The presence
of the veteran musician itself
is enough to create the musical aura.”
Excited by performing live on stage after such a long time, Tuladhar said, “I am so satisfied performing live in front of such an appreciating crowd. Providing such a wonderful platform for classical music, NMC has contributed a lot to promote this genre of music.”
