The most popular method for beginner’s cubers is a layer by layer method where each layer is solved to completely solve a cube. It was developed by David Singmaster. But the most popular speed cubing method is the Fridrich method developed by Jessica Fridrich. In this method, a cross is made in a side and two layers are solved simultaneously. It allows you to solve a cube in an average of 55 moves where you have to roughly remember 120 algorithms.

Many speed cubing competitions are held every year all over the world. The umbrella organization for cubing is World Cube Association which holds cubing competitions every two years where competitors compete in different ways to solve it. One handed solving, blindfolded solving, solving by feet, solving in fewest possible moves and

so on.

The world record for the quickest solve is held by Lucas Etter in an incredible time of 4.90 seconds and the world record for average is by Feliks Zemdeks with an amazing time of 6.54 seconds followed by his own record in one handed solving in 10.87 seconds, and the world record for blindfolded solve is by Kaijun Lin in an unbelievable time of 21.05 seconds. A robot had set a record to solve a Rubik’s cube in 0.900 seconds.
