Thoughts on memory lane

Delving into the past quickly turns into a quagmire if one is heart broken, has a fond regret or is lost and forlorn. It is a decision arrived at to travel back in time. Where before there was a brief recollection now there is a full-fledged reminensces.

Invariably, the die is cast as one becomes nostalgic about the past for there is little room for anything

that can be called close and personal. This is just a game played in all earnestness between what ‘ifs’ and the chain of events. And becomes dicey if nothing else is the replacement. And a walk down memory lane loses its lustre and becomes vague.

But no one can forsee the chance element making inroads into the inner sanctum because it is a storehouse of memories which enriches one’s personal life. There is nothing to do if it turns into a sweet-souring experience and belies one’s efforts at coming to terms with it.

One can be at a loss in tracking down one’s thoughts for there

is an overload of neural activity. Here there is an alienation from the

norm and a tryst with destiny concerning one’s immediate past, because one can never say with certainty

how much is good for one’s self as far as being with it is concerned. If there was a second chance to re-live the experiences one could do better than hedging around.

No one can speak of the memory as just being discoloured graphics for there is no grey areas in-between but of every hue and colour. Because of the passage of time it becomes dim and lacklustre and loses its potency - as far as the power to affect and influence is concerned.

The repository of snapshots that lies within can be retrieved at a moment’s notice. It ties up the loose ends by its sheer virtue of being contained and not altered in any way. These can be conjured up into a mental picture and requires only a linking impulse - but not a half-hearted attempt as it can be said that the thought is generated by the grey matter.

What can be taken into account is the preceding line of reasoning. This is an accomplishment as far as the synaptic connection is concerned whereupon the bits of information teases one to the point of satiation. With only a momentary visualisation one can hone one’s skill, and at the same time learn from the past.
