KATHMANDU, AUGUST 6
Water hyacinths are seen on the surface of Phewa Lake in Pokhara, Kaski on Sunday.
These wild weeds flourish every monsoon, obscuring the lake's natural beauty. Their widespread presence across the lake creates challenges for tourists using rowing boats. Despite local efforts to remove the weeds through campaigns, the results have been unsatisfactory. The water hyacinths, often referred to as the bane of the Phewa Lake, return like clockwork with every monsoon.
