KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 04

The general strike called by Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) -- in protest of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's move to appoint officials in constitutional bodies without parliamentary hearing -- affected normal lives of people across country including Kathmandu valley.

In Kathmandu, educational institutions, public transportation, industrial sector, and service sector remained affected due to the strike enforced by NCP's splinter group.

Private two-wheelers, cars, and emergency vehicles were seen plying the streets. The capital witnessed disturbances of various sorts during the strike.

Likewise, strike enforcers damaged a few vehicles in Chitwan for defying the strike. In other major cities including Pokhara, Butwal, Dhangadhi, strike had partial impact and affected daily lives of the people.
