KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 3
Many people across the country are celebrating Kukur Tihar today, the first of the five-day long Tihar festival.
This year, Kukur Tihar and Kaag Tihar are being observed on the same day.
As a part of celebration, Nepali Army personnel 'celebrated' 88 different breeds of dogs by carrying out dog-worship in an Army barrack in Bhaktapur this morning.
In the NA, dogs are a part of the institution's peacekeeping mission wherein trained dogs have been included in its mission for the last 18 years. They are employed for security purpose and crime investigation.
In some cultures, Dogs are regarded as messengers of Yamaraj and also Lord Bhairav's vaahan (carrier).
