KATHMANDU, APRIL 27

People wait to board a bus to go to their hometowns after the government announced a prohibitory order in the capital effective from Thursday, owing to the second wave of coronavirus pandemic with increasing number of infections in Kathmandu.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1900+ freshly reported cases of COVID-19 have been witnessed in Kathmandu valley for two consecutive days -- 1,996 cases were reported in the past 24 hours while on Monday the valley had witnessed 1,912 cases.

The Cabinet meeting held on Monday recommended a 15-day prohibitory order to be brought into effect from Thursday to curb the rampant spread of COVID-19 cases in the valley.
