Dishhome promises to provide quality image and sound on television sets in nepali homes
KATHMANDU: With an increase in clear digital television view and tough competition to capture the
market, direct to home (DTH) industry has turned into an industry to watch out for. Among all the
service providers today DishHome is one such brand that has excelled in the market in Nepal today.
DishHome is the only DTH (Direct to home) digital satellite service in Nepal providing television viewing services directly to subscribers through satellite transmission anywhere in the country. With
DTH, customers will not only be able to view high definition (HD) channels but they can even customise the package as per their choice. Dish Media Network Pvt Ltd, the fastest-growing operators of Nepal’s broadcast and transmission services for digital television channels was introduced in the Nepali market in 2010. “The major strength of DishHome is that it has a wide range of channels with sharp images and clarity and is further enhanced with high definition sound quality,” said Kalyan
Adhikary, Deputy General Marketing Manager at Dish Media Network Pvt Ltd. He further said that the brand has a nationwide coverage with 87 distributors and approximately 2000 sub-distributors.
The brand has an outstanding reputation for quality and reliability with consistently excellent network delivery and high-calibre proficiency, he said. “When DishHome was launched in the market, our main strategy was to attract people living in semi urban and rural areas who had been watching channels via antenna cable. Today, DishHome has reached almost 60 per cent households because of the quality we provide,” said Adhikary. Currently the company is aggressively promoting the brand with new schemes and offers such as addition of new channels, internet services and facilities. He also informed that with DishHome, one can have easy access to channels than before, have more than one television connected
to the network and subscribe to new movies every day. “Since people nowadays are buying LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and LED (Light Emitting Diode) television sets, they want perfect picture quality with excellent sound. We at DishHome provide all of that,” he added.
The company has been providing innumerable packages as per customers requirement. They have
basic packages which include hindi soaps for consumers at Rs 300, hindi soaps and sports channels for Rs 400, and lifestyle channels for Rs 500 as entry level package. They also offer high definition package which includes sports channels for Rs 600 while all lifestyle HD package starts from Rs 700 onward. “Every household is our target client but we have refined segmentation among them with varied strategies. Also, we aspire to provide lifelong facilities and services to as many consumers as we can,”
said Adhikary.
The product costs about Rs 5,999 with 91 standard definition channels and 16 HD channels including
the set top box and installation charge. “We are very happy to receive positive response from our customers. We get feedback wherein they ask us to introduce new schemes and we will soon be working on that,” notified Adhikary. He further informed that for the festive season the company has brought down the overall product cost to Rs 2,999 exclusive of technical support.
Speaking about the post- earthquake scenario, he said, “When the earthquake hit all signals were down but we made a commitment to our customers that we will fix it as soon as possible. We replaced old and broken antennas as immediate solutions and got their network up and running in no time.”
All DishHome products (set top box and antenna) are imported and are sold through distributors only. “Every year we have witnessed an increase in sales by 30 per cent,” informed Adhikary. He also guaranteed that with Amos 4, an Israeli commercial communication satellite, having focal beam in Nepal, consumers will not have to face signal problems during bad weather. The brand holds about 30 per cent market share in terms of pay TV and the monthly turnover of the brand is about Rs 120 million in Nepal. The company plans to bring changes in DTH technology by bringing new and innovative satellites, automation for customers support, strengthening customer relationship management. It also plans to add more HD channels by upgrading technical equipment alongside internet services in future.
