17 golfers earn tickets

KATHMANDU: Ashok Lama and Anil Lama finished joint fist in the fourth Faldo Series Nepal Championship qualifiers here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday. Played under stroke play format over nine holes, they scored five-over 38 each in the U-21 section.

Others who made the cut included Bharat Thapa Magar, Rishav Raj Acharya, Ishor Bharati, Lakpa Tamang, Dipesh Humagain, Prabin Yakthumba, Sabin Khanal, Bipin Tamang and Bijay Gurung. Likewise, Rohit Lama finished first in U-16 category with the score of eight-over 41, while Binod Tamang came second at 43. Subash Ghising and Prince Bhandari also made the cut. In girls’ section, Smita Shrestha finished first with the score of 46, while Kasmira Shah was second at 46.

Out of the 19 players who took part in the one-day selection tournament, two golfers – Ratna Thapa Magar and Shaswat Pradhan – failed to qualify for the tournament. The Faldo Series Nepal Nepal Championship, a qualifying tournament for the Asia Grand Finale, will be held at the Gokarna Golf Club from September 20-23.
