On the occasion of the 19th Education Day, National Sports Council and Ministry of Education and Sports jointly organised the 23rd National Athletics and 26th National Boys and 4th National Girls Volleyball Tournament today at Dasharath Stadium. The event was inaugurated by minister of Education and Sports Hari Bahadur Basnet by handing over volleyball and relay baton to atletics trainer Narayan Yadav and referee Raghu Bahadur Khadka.

In the two-day long tournament, there were around 100 participants from five development regions in atletics and 10 teams of girls and boys in volleyball. In different track and field events today, Radheshyam Kawa, Katak Bahadur Budha and Yagya Bahadur Budha stood first, second and third respectively among boys and Kavita Pyakurel, Gita Joshi and Maya Chaudhary came first, second and third respectively among girls in 800m race. Similarly, in 500m race Suvas Bhatta, Chitra Chaudhary and Dharma Singh Rana stood first, second and third respectively. In 300m race, Rekha Kumari Shah, Hasa Mahat and Ghumra Bista came first, second and third respectively. Winner boys of 100m dash were Gopal K C, Resham Kumal and Gajendra Subedi and Ganga Chaudhari, Keshari Chaudhari and Basanti Chaudhari won among girls.
