ACC PREMIER LEAGUE: Nepal lose to UAE by 97 runs

Kathmandu, November 6:

The hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Nepal by 97 runs on the final day of the three-day ACC Premier League cricket match held at the Sharjah Stadium today.

Chasing a modest target of 205 runs, Nepal were dismissed for 107 runs in 62.1 overs after resuming the last day at 33/2.

Gyanendra Malla and vice-captain Shakti Gauchan started the Nepali innings but were ultimately packed up for 107 runs. Gauchan, who resumed the day on four runs, fell for 22 while Basanta Regmi top-scored with 26 runs.

Ali Asad was the most successful UAE bowler who claimed four wickets conceding 41 runs. Tahid Shah finished with 2-20 and Arshad Ali, who hit a magnificent 137 in their first innings, took 2-14. The UAE declared their first innings at 262/7 but were all out for 97 in the second. Nepal scored 155 runs in first innings.

With the result, the hosts UAE earned a total of 30.5 points including 14 bonus points for the outright win, while Nepal accumulated 13.5 points.
