Adhikari, Shrestha win

Kumar Adhikari cruised to a comfortable 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bhim Tamang and Soviet Man Shrestha eased past Rohit Sunuwar 6-1, 6-3 in the men’s singles matches at the first APF Open Lawn Tennis Tournament here today.

In other men’s open singles matches, Shyam GC overcame Samyak Udas 6-2, 6-2; Sanu Lama beat Rajaj Man Shrestha 6-3, 6-3; Gaurav Shah defeated Roshan KC 6-3, 6-3; Akul Regmi hammered Pratap Moktan 6-0, 6-1; and Karki thrashed Tribhuvan Bista 6-0, 6-1.

Also, Mahesh Shahi crushed Milan Rokka 6-0, 6-1; Rajesh Chhetri rallied to a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Chhewang Lama; Manoj Shahi edged Ashok Singh 6-1, 6-2; Siddhartha Moktan dispatched Hari Hayu 6-3, 6-1; Sonam Fulchok saw off Raju Adhikari 6-1, 6-1; Harbindra Singh beat Sandesh Singh 6-1, 6-2; Atmaram Karki overcame Diwakar Ojha; and Jitendra Pariyar got a walk over win from Santosh Khattri in other men’s singles matches.

In the women’s singles matches, Binu Suwal edged past Pabitra Gurung 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets; Kencho Palden shut out Nera Gurung 6-0, 6-0; and Srija Karki beat Priti Agrawal 6-0, 6-2.

Winners in the veterans singles (above 45yrs) were Abdul Rehman, Suman Dhakhwa, Karma Ghale, Karimullah Muslim, Lal Prasad Rokka, Prithvi Thakali and Jivan Ghimire. Arjun Karki and Sameer Sherchan got walk over wins in veterans (above 45yrs) section.

In the veterans doubles (above 45yrs) match Arjun Karki and Suman Dhakhwa eased to a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 victory over Sanat Kumar Basnet and Devendra Raj Kandel. Likewise, Karimullah and Karma Ghale beat Ranjan Bista and Mahesh Karki 6-4, 7-5.
