Afghanistan win title
KATHMANDU: Afghanistan won the maiden title of the ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
In the final match, Afghanistan thrashed Pakistan by 185 runs to win the title. Put into bat first, Afghanistan scored 248-7 in their allotted 50 overs before packing Pakistan for a paltry 63 runs in 22.1 overs.
Afghanistan posted a fighting total riding on Ikram Faizi’s unbeaten 107 off 113 balls that included 10 boundaries and two sixes.
In reply, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed 5-13 to restrict Pakistan to a low total.
Afghanistan, who had reached the final beating Nepal by seven wickets in semi-final match, had thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets in group stage match.
Afghans had restricted Pakistan to 57 runs in group stage.
