Magar, Lama advance to quarter-finals
LALITPUR: Amrit Thapa Magar of Western and Chhiri Lama of Central advanced to the men’s singles quarter-finals of the 10th National Squash Tournament under NSC Championship here at the Satdobato Squash Complex on Wednesday.
Thapa Magar beat Central’s Bijay Magar 11-5, 11-3, 11-6, while Lama saw off Nepal Police Club’s Gyanu Chaudhary 11-7, 11-5, 11-7 to make it to the last eight.
Similarly, Deepak Thapa of Nepal Police Club beat Central’s Sugam Tulsana 14-12, 11-8, 13-11, Padam Bahadur Thapa of Western outplayed NPC’s Amit Blon 11-2, 11-4, 11-9 and Central’s Arhant Keshar Singh saw off Eastern’s Dilip Narshing Adhikari 11-5, 11-5, 11-6.
In women’s singles, Central’s Bhawana Sunuwar, Manjila Ale Magar, Swosthani Shrestha, Sapan Blon, Shreemaya Lama and Bipana Blon along with Eastern’s Muskan Raut and Western’s Krishna Thapa entered the quarter-finals of the event.
Meanwhile, National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista announced the reward of Rs 15,000 to the players who break national record in individual games and the best players of the team game.
