ANFA forms committee to probe lapse

Kathmandu, December 9

All Nepal Football Association today formed a three-member committee to probe into the matters of the Ruslan Three Star Club who were deprived of participation in the second round of the AFC Cup.

A meeting of ANFA executive committee formed the committee that included its Vice-president Bir Bahadur Khadka, Member Ramesh Rayamajhi and Development Director Sanjib Mishra. The ANFA has asked the committee to submit its report within 15 days.

Three Star were omitted from the competition by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) after ANFA missed the registration deadline. Three Star had qualified for the second round of the inaugural tournament after finishing as the group winners in Mongolia in August.

The AFC has included Mongolian Erchim FC, who were runners-up to Three Star in the qualifiers, for the draw after the ANFA did not respond to its four requests sent through email.

The meeting also decided to reward the AFC Solidarity Cup winning team members with Rs 300,000 each. Nepal national team had won the tournament held in in Malaysia last month. The government has also announced the reward of same amount for the champion team.

Similarly, ANFA Vice-president Mani Kunwar was nominated as Senior Vice-president, while Sindhupalchowk District Football Association President Bir Bahadur Khadka was named as Vice-president in a post which was vacant after Karma Tshiring Sherpa lost the presidential elections to Narendra Shrestha.

However, Vice-president Kishor Rai and Member Pankaj Bikram Nembang wrote down note of dissent against the decision saying the move was against the statute. “The nominations are against the statute of the ANFA as there is no provision of a senior Vice-president and the the post of vice-president is also not vacant at all,” Nembang said.

The meeting gave the responsibility of preparing the statute amendment proposal to Senior Vice-president Kunwar, Vice-president Bir Bahadur Khadka, Member Ratna Kumar Shrestha and Chief Executive Officer Indra Man Tuladhar. A legal advisor will also be added in the committee.

A committee comprising of CEO Tuladhar, Development Director Mishra, Competition Head Ratna Kumar Shrestha and Chief Administrator Gokul Thapa was formed to finalise the A Division League format as per the AFC’s directives of Club licensing.

Likewise, Member Basant Aryal got the responsibility of preparing a draft of financial regulation, while Prakash Pangeni was handed over the job of finalising the employee regulations within 15 days.
