KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 26

Yeti Airlines and Gokarna Forest are jointly organising the Ang Tshiring Sherpa Memorial Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club on May 6-7.

Around 150 golfers will take part in the two-day tournament which is being organised in memory of Ang Tshiring Sherpa, the Managing Director of Yeti Group of Companies who died in a helicopter crash in Taplejung on February 27, 2019.

The overall champion of the tournament, which will be played under stableford Ā¾ handicap format, will receive a trophy along with travel package worth Rs 500,000, while other winners will get travel packages sponsored by companies and resorts operating through the Yeti Group including Air Dynasty, Himalayan Airlines, Yeti Airlines, Tara Air, Yeti Mountain Home, Moksha Resort, Gokarna Forest Resort, Kasara Resort and Ker & Downy.

"The tournament will be an annual event with a vision to promote Nepal as a golf destination.

Sherpa was a pioneer in promoting new tourism destinations in Nepal and source of inspiration for young golfers and golf enthusiasts.

Yeti Airlines plans to make this event more comprehensive and systematic in the years to come by organising tournaments in historical and tourist destinations across the country," the organisers said in a release.

"Sherpa was a pioneer in promoting new tourism destinations in Nepal and the source of inspiration for young golfers and golf enthusiasts. The entry fee collected from the participants will be donated to a charitable organisation," the organisers added.
