Aryan enter semi-finals

Aryan International School of Varanasi defeated Sunrise English School by 81 runs to enter the semi-finals of the first DAV International Fraternity and Unity School Cricket League here today.

Batting first at the Institute of Engineering College grounds in Pulchowk, Aryan were bowled out for 137 runs in 19.2 overs before packing Sunrise to a paltry 56 runs in 13.4 overs. Heramb Mishra scored 36 off 35 balls that included two fours and two sixes, while Prashant Dubey scored run-a-ball 24 with the help of three fours and a six. Sagun GC took 3-22 for Sunrise. In reply, none of the Sunrise batsmen could score in double figures as Dubey (3-7) and man-of-the-match Mishra (2-12) shared five wickets.

In the second quarter-final match, Balbhawan International School of New Delhi registered a 10-run victory over City Montessori School of Lucknow. Man-of-the-match Yash Dhool top scored for Balbhawan with 55-ball 56 that included four boundaries and a six, while Nikhil Tiwari struck six fours in his 30-ball 33. In reply, Shivansh Dixit and Karan Saxena scored 34 runs each for City Montessori.

Likewise, New Horizon beat Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya by 16 runs to make it to the last four. Batting first, New Horizon scored 151-4 in 20 overs before SAM reached 135-9.  Man-of-the-match Kushal Malla scored 51-ball 53 hitting seven boundaries and a six, while Haddish Mushalman struck seven foursin his 33-ball 38. Sajal Bhandari scored 50 off 48 ball hitting five boundaries and two sixes but that was not enough for SAM to avert the loss.

In the fourth and final quarter-final match held at the SAM School grounds in Bhaktapur, hosts DAV School defeated Nepal Police Club by 14 runs. Batting first, Shubham Jhawar struck four boundaries in his 36-ball 31, while Sujal Gupta scored 21 off 23 ball that included a six. In reply, Suraj Choudhary scored 47 off 50 hitting six fours, while Binamra Thapa Chhetri scored 19 off 24. Man-of-the-match Prashant Yadav was the pick of the DAV bowlers with 5-20.

On Wednesday, Aryan will take on DAV, while New Horizon face Balbhawan in semi-final matches at the IoE College grounds.
