Aussie NBA star Bogut taken to hospital after fall
MILWAUKEE: Milwaukee Bucks' Australian star Andrew Bogut was taken to hospital after crashing heavily to the floor and awkwardly twisting his elbow in the game against the Phoenix Suns.
Bogut, of Melbourne, Victoria, crashed to the court after making a dunk in the second quarter of a 107-98 Bucks' win.
The former first overall draft pick Bogut was bumped from behind by Suns Amare Stoudemire and appeared to wrench his elbow on the way down and then hit his head.
"He was in some pain, there's no question about that," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "But again, you can't jump to any conclusions. We'll see what happens."
With Milwaukee leading late in the second quarter, Bogut took a long pass on a fast break. He dunked and hung on the rim before being touched in the back by Stoudemire.
Bogut appeared to be in serious pain before being helped to his feet by the team's medical staff.
"I thought it was broken," Bucks Brandon Jennings said.
Officials called Stoudemire for a flagrant foul and he was booed heavily by Milwaukee fans. Stoudemire denies he was trying to hurt Bogut.
"The fans didn't have a clean view of what happened," Stoudemire said. "But I think once they see the replay they'll see that there was nothing intentional."
Bogut, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 draft, is having a superb season, averaging a team-high 15.9 points and 10.3 rebounds. He played just 36 games last year due to a back injury.
