Aviation, CIT College register easy victories
Kathmandu, December 24 :
Aviation College defeated CIT College by 50 runs and Princeton College beat NIC by 57 runs in the Thakur Nath Pant Memorial Inter-college Cricket Tournament today.
Electing to bat first, Aviation scored 184 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Sharad KC scored 69 runs off 57 balls including nine hits to the fence. Ravi Basnet also contributed 33-ball 37 runs for Aviation Collge. Eroz Khadka took two wickets conceding 28 runs in four overs. Binit Shrestha and Bipul Bhattarai also shared one wicket each.
In reply, CIT managed only 134-8 in their allotted 20 overs. Bipul scored 26 highest runs for CIT while Subin Gyawali made 15 runs. Man of the match Vaskar Upadhyaya claimed four wickets giving away 25 runs in four overs for Aviation. Satendra Bhattarai and Prasoon Saurav took one wicket each.
Batting first, Princeton College was all out for 128 in 19.4 overs but defended the total by restricting NIC to 71 runs in 14.3 overs. Rahul Bansal played a crucial role in Princeton win as he scored unbeaten 51 runs off 32 balls. Bipin Khadka, Umesh Gaire, Kehar Bhandari and Nima Lama took two wickets each for NIC.
In their run chase only top order NIC batsmen contributed runs. Arif Ahmed and Min Gurung scored 18 runs each for NIC while Kehar contributed 10 runs. No other batsmen could reach the double figures. Man of the match Rabindra Yadav claimed six wickets conceding 11 runs in four overs for Princeton. Sumit Shah and Anil Yadubansi also took two wickets each.
