KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 25
Bagmati Province and Sudurpashchim Province registered victories in the Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament here today.
Pratik Shrestha scored a century as Bagmati defeated Province-I by 72 runs at the TU Stadium for their first win. Batting first, Bagmati posted 269-9 in their allotted 50 overs before packing Province-I for a paltry 197 runs.
Bagmati innings revolved around Shrestha, who remained unbeaten on 142 off 105 balls that included 10 fours and nine sixes.
Shrestha dominated the 100-run stand for the seventh wicket with Atharva Poudyal, while he clobbered 40 runs from the last 12 balls hitting two each fours and sixes in the last over bowled by Sonu Ansari.
Skipper Ashok Poudel was the next best contributor scoring 25 off 39 balls hitting five boundaries, while opener Sakshyam Bastakoti hit two fours and a six in his 44-ball 23. Atharva Poudyal (15) and Yogesh Bhat (14) also scored in double figures. Ahamad Raza, who shared the 40-run partnership with player-of-thematch Pratik Shrestha for the unbroken 10th wicket, did not even get a chance to face the ball.
Dinesh Kandel and Bipin Mahato grabbed two wickets each for Province-I, while Abhinaya Rajbanshi and Ashish Magar bagged one apiece.
In reply, skipper Dipesh Kandel top scored with 47 off 66 balls with the help of four fours and a six, while Estain Rijal scored 35 off 87 balls. Suvan Gahatraj (26), Faijal Rahaman (24), Bipin Mahato (21 not out) and Sonu Ansari (13) got off to good starts but they failed to convert them in meaningful knocks.
Sakriya Karki was the pick of the Bagmati bowlers taking 3-38, while Omkar Yadav grabbed 2-30.
Ahamad Raza, Abhishek Koirala and Atharva Poudyal claimed one wicket each.
In another match, Sudurpashchim outplayed Lumbini Province by 100 runs. Batting first, Sudurpashchim were bowled out for 180 in 49.5 overs before Lumbini were packed for 80 runs in 21 overs.
Dipak Bohara top scored for Sudurpashchim with 54 off 73 balls that included eight boundaries, while Gajendra Bohara was the next contributor with 19.
Deepak Bohara and Naren Saud scored 17 each, while Bisha Ayer (16) and Hemant Dhami (15) also scored in double figures.
Bishal Bikram KC grabbed 3-20 for Lumbini, while Nar Sarki and Nirmal Gurung took two each.
Durgesh Gupta and Ramesh Kurmi got one wicket apiece.
In reply, Lumbini batsmen squandered the chance created by their bowlers. Opener Aakash Tripathi was the top scorer with 22 off 23 balls that included four fours, while Dev Khanal (13) and Manoj Magar (11) were the only two other batsmen who contributed in double figures.
Akash Chand was the pick of the Sudurpashchim bowlers taking 5-13 and the five-wicket haul also earned him the player-ofthe-match award. Hemant Dhami took 3-37 and Kailash Ayer bagged one wicket.
