Bagmati recorded their third straight victory in the Wai Wai Under-19 National Cricket Tournament and Lumbini tasted win here today.
Bagmati thrashed Madhesh Province by 152 runs at the Mulpani grounds. Batting first, Bagmati were bowled out for 217 runs in 47.3 overs before Madhesh were packed for a paltry 65 runs with 145 balls to spare.
Opener Uttam Magar and Yogesh Bhat scored half centuries to rescue Bagmati from a precarious position of 26-2. They added 111 runs for the third wicket after opener Sakshyam Bastakoti (naught) and skipper Ashok Poudel (eight) fell cheaply.
Magar top scored with 71 off 98 balls that included 12 fours and a six, while Bhat struck four each boundaries and sixes in his 40- ball 59. Pratik Shrestha scored 30 while Roshan BK contributed 14.
Rajesh Yadav was the pick of the Madhesh Province taking 4-24 from 9.3 overs, while Abjit Mandal grabbed 3-35. Anjit Kumar claimed two wickets and skipper Abhisekh Tiwari bagged one. In reply, Tiwari (18) and opener Mayan Yadav (11) were the only two batsmen who contributed in double figures for Madhesh whose innings folded in 25.5 overs. Ahamad Raza of Bagmati completed five-wicket haul claiming 5-15 from seven overs and he also earned playerof-the-match award. Abhishek Koirala bagged 3-9 from 2.5 overs. Sakriya Karki and Pratik Shrestha bagged one wicket each.
At the TU Stadium, Lumbini outplayed Karnali Province by six wickets. Batting first, Karnali were bowled out for 100 runs before Lumbini reached 102-4 with 175 balls to spare. Skipper Bipin Rawal top scored for Karnali with 39-ball 36 that included five fours and a six, while Suwash Ayer, who hit three fours and a six in his run-a-ball 23 was the only other batter to contribute in double figures.
Player-of-the-match Bishal Bikram KC claimed 4-17 for Lumbini, while Avishek Gautam grabbed 2-27. Nar Sarki, Nirmal Gurung and Tul Bahadur Thapa bagged one wicket each.
In reply, opener Aakash Tripathi scored 52 off 47 balls hitting eight boundaries to lead the chase. Skipper Bishal Bikram KC (13) and Prajwol Thapa (10) contributed in double figures. Tripathi and Manoj Magar (nine) shared a 24 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket to complete the victory. Anuj Chanara took 2-22 for Karnali, while Sandip Shahi and Mohan BK grabbed one each. After their third consecutive victory, Bagmati are at the top of the table with maximum six points, while Sudurpashchim are second on four. Province-I and Lumbini have two each.
Madhesh, Karnali and Gandaki are yet to open their accounts.
