KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 26
Rajat SJB Rana won the 11th edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Rana finished first on count back after he was tied at seven-under 65 with Purna Bahadur Rai. The 16-handicap Rana scored seven-under 29 nett on the back nine, where as Rai carded three-under 33. Sriram Thapa came third with the score of four-under 68.
Tashi Tshiring won the gross section title, also on count back. Tshiring and his brother Wangchen Dhondup were tied at one-under 71.
Aaiesteena Tandan was the winner among ladies golfers with the score of four-over 76 nett.
With the runner-up finish in the first of the two final rounds of the Club Championship, Rai moved to second with 260 points, 20 behind leader Babu Sherpa in nett category. Winner of the event, Rana jumped 37 places up to third with 220 points.
Ranadeep Thapa slipped to fourth from second place with 215 points.
Karna B Thapa was at fifth place with 195 points, followed by Pavitra Kumar Karki (185), Sriram Thapa (170), Samir Acharya (145), Ang Dorjee Sherpa (125) and Pradeep KC (120).
In gross section, Wangchen Dhondup maintained the lead at the top of the table with 575 points, while Tashi Tsering was second with 565 points. Vijay Einhaus was third on 380, while Surendra Phuyal was fourth on 260 points.
In all, 25 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd.
Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners. The second and final round of the Club Championship will be played in December.
