Kathmandu, August 3

Lalitpur District Basketball Association is set to organise the NeBA President 3X3 National Level Open Basketball Tournament here at the National Sports Council covered hall from August 4-5.

A total of 60 teams, including 48 in men’s and 12 in women’s sections, have confirmed their participation for the tournament to be played under league-cum-knockout format, informed LDBA General Secretary Saroj Bista at a press meet.

The winners and runners-up in men’s category will earn Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000, while the top two finishers in women’s category will take home Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. Also, the most valuable players in both categories will get Rs 7,000 each. Bista informed that the estimated budget of the event is Rs 500,000.

Meanwhile, Nepal Basketball Association President Lama Tendi Sherpa said such event would help Nepal to improve in FIBA World Ranking. Currently Nepal are 133rd among 186 nations in the ranking.
