Bayern-bound Ancelotti is Champions League record man

MUNICH: Despite seven attempts Bayern Munich has never beaten a team led by Carlo Ancelotti. There won't be an eighth try as the German club announced Sunday that the Italian will replace current Bayern coach Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.

Ancelotti is the only coach to win three Champions League titles, although Bob Paisley also won three in the European Cup with Liverpool. But Ancelotti is linked to Liverpool in a way he will want to forget his AC Milan lost the 2005 Champions League final on penalties after leading 3-0 at halftime.

The Italian led Real Madrid to its record 10th Champions League title after a 12-year wait and a famous 3-0 win at Bayern in the semifinals only to be fired one year later.

Here is a look at Ancelotti's career as coach:

Champions League titles: 2003 and 2007 with Milan, 2014 with Real Madrid.

National league titles: Italy 2004 (Milan), England 2010 (Chelsea), France 2013 (Paris Saint-Germain).

Other titles: Club World Cup 2007 (Milan) and 2014 (Real Madrid); UEFA Super Cup 2003 and 2007 (Milan), 2014 (Real Madrid); Italian Cup 2003 (Milan), FA Cup 2010 (Chelsea), Spanish Cup 2014 (Real Madrid); Italian Super Cup 2004 (Milan); Community Shield 2009 (Chelsea).
