Bayern Munich advance
London, February 23:
Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen each recorded a 5-1 win to reach the next round of the UEFA Cup.
Bayern beat Aberdeen to set up a meeting with 1983 champion Anderlecht, who got past Bordeaux, and Leverkusen routed Galatasaray.
Everton beat Brann 6-1 to advance, but their English rivals Tottenham needed a string of saves from recalled goalkeeper Paul Robinson to earn a 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague and a place in the round of 16.
Another English side, Bolton, forced the biggest surprise when they drew 0-0 at Atletico Madrid to complete a 1-0 aggregate win.
PSV Eindhoven, Fiorentina and Sporting Lisbon also advanced to the next two-legged round in March.
Bayern will meet Anderlecht next after the Belgian club drew 1-1 at Bordeaux for a 3-2 aggregate win.
Leverkusen advanced to a meeting with German rival Hamburger SV, which drew 0-0 with FC Zurich to advance 3-1 on aggregate.
Everton earned a meeting against Fiorentina, who completed a 3-1 aggregate win over Rosenborg with a 2-1 win. Two-time winners Tottenham advanced 3-2 thanks to a 2-1 first-leg win in the Czech Republic.
