BCB win two-day match

Kathmandu, November 29:

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) U-17 team lost the two-day friendly match against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 team by an inning and 45 runs here at the TU Stadium today.

Resuming their first innings at 44-4, CAN were dismissed for 75 runs in the 45.3 overs in reply to the tourists’ first innings total of 240. With the lead of 165 runs, BCB enforced the hosts to follow on and the CAN failed to save the match as they were bowled out for 120 .

Nischal Chaudhary resumed at 11 but was dismissed without scoring a single run. Sagar Pun, who started the day on 18 not out, made 46 from 106 balls but got little support from the other end.

Mohammad Shentu (3-14) and Mohammad Asif Hossian (3-12) claimed three wickets apiece while Dewan Shabbir (2-27) and Sumit Chaudhary (2-20) bagged two each for BCB.

Forced to follow on, CAN showed some resiliance but were eventually bowled out in 62.1 overs. Nischal top scored with 41 while skipper Prithu Baskota made 25. BCB’s Sumit Chaudhary finished the match with six wickets after taking 4-23. Dewan Shabbir also took two while Shentu and Hossian picked up one.

The tourists have already clean swept the three-match one-day series against the side who are undergoing closed camp training for the ACC Under-17 Elite Cup scheduled here for February 4-13.
