Thapa stars as Nepal Storm tame Tigers; Warriors defeat Lions

Kathmandu, June 21

Nepal Storm and Dubai Warriors recorded wins in the Asian Club Premier League here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Storm saw off Bangladesh Tigers by seven wickets, while Warriors outplayed Sri Lankan Lions by 21 runs.

Put into bat first, Tigers were bowled out for 148 runs in 19.1 overs before Nepal Storm raced to 150-3 in 16.4 overs.

Bhupendra Thapa scored an  unbeaten 37-ball 51 to guide Storms to convincing victory over Tigers, who had defeated Afghanistan Bulls by three runs on Tuesday. Dishant Yadav contributed 46 off 35 balls, while Pawan Chandel scored 23 off 15 in Storm’s win. Pawan Kumar took 2-19 and Sanket Sahu claimed 1-35 for Tigers.

Earlier, Tigers posted a fighting total riding on Ramesh Panchal’s 18-ball 30 and Sanjog Binkar’s 27 off 16. Sagir Ul Hasan also scored 18 runs.

Storm’s Malwinder claimed 3-20, while Haseeb Amjad (2-5), Dishant Yadav (2-24) and Gaurav Barabade (2-34) shared six wickets among them.

In another match, Warriors scored 189-9 before restricting Sri Lankan Lions to 168-3.

Warriors reached a mammoth total riding on Dawood Ejaz’s 19-ball 56 and Abdul Shakoor’s 31-ball 56. Ravi Verma scored 30 off 27.

Mohd Nizamuddin took 2-56 and Nishan Samarakkody claimed 2-36 for Lions, who failed to reach the target despite Dinesh Nakrani scoring 41-ball 72. Nishan Samarakkody scored 63 off 43 balls.

Sandeep Singh claimed 2-27 and Orminder took 1-31 for Warriors. Lions had thrashed Indian Stars by 53 runs on Tuesday.
