Shrestha wins Snooker C’ship

Kathmandu, October 27

Bikash Shrestha defeated Som Lama 6-4 in the final of the Nepal Open Snooker Championship here at the National Sports Council on Thursday.

In the best-of-eleven final, Shrestha won the first two frames 91-52, 111-2 before dropping the next three 112-16, 120-0, 73-24. Shrestha bounced back to take 5-3 lead by winning the next three frames 52-48, 59-53, 63-33 before Lama took the ninth frame 82-42 to cut the deficit.

Shrestha won the 10th frame 94-32 to claim the title with one frame to spare. With the title, Shrestha received Rs 100,001, while Lama got Rs 50,000.

Lama received another Rs 10,000 for the highest break of 75 points which he did in the third frame of the final match. Losing semi-finalists Chhopel Sherpa and Bikash Maharjan got Rs 15,000 each. A total of 98 players took part in the 10-day event organised by Nepal Billiard, Snooker and Pool Association. Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi handed over the prizes to the winners.
