Kathmandu, November 19:

Bina Tulachan and Sara Devi Tamang rallied for a 17-21, 21-16, 21-19 win over Puja Shrestha and Sujana Shrestha to win the women’s doubles title here at the fifth Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Championshps today.

Sajan Krishna Tamrakar laboured to a 22-20, 19-21, 21-13 win over Sahadev Khadka to claim the U-19 boys’ title. Sushmita Gurung beat Nangsala Devi Tamang 21-11, 21-13 in final to lift the U-19 girls’ title.

Entering into the men’s doubles final were the pair of Pankaj Chand/Rajiv Dahal and Indra Mahata/Bishal Pradhan. Pankaj/Rajiv overcame Bikash Shrestha and Nawaraj Joshi 21-9, 21-19 while Indra/Bishal defeated Anil Lakhe and Ram Singh Chaudhary 21-13, 21-17.

In the veterans’ doubles semi-finals, Suresh Chandra Shrestha and Ganesh Thapa beat Suresh Bum and Mahendra Bhattachan 21-16, 22-20 while Milan Rajbhandari and Jayaram Hamal saw off Mani Subba and Ganesh Subba 21-19, 21-16.

Advancing to the mixed doubles finals were Puja Shrestha and Indra Mahata along with Sushmita Gurung and Pankaj Chand.

Puja/Indra defeated Bina Tulachan/Anil Lakhe 21-9, 21-17 and Sushmita/Pankaj edged out Ram Singh Chaudhary/Tulasi Gurung 21-18, 21-10. Ram Singh Chaudhary, Bikash Shrestha, Pankaj Chand and Indra Mahata also made it to the men’s singles semi-finals.
