Bindra wins New Year Cup
KATHMANDU: Greesh Bindra won the New Year Cup golf tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Course today.
Played on stableford ¾ format, Bindra scored a nett 35-point to win the
championship. Pradeep Bikram Rana finished runner up with 31 points. Shree
Jay Acharya claimed the best gross
award with 24 points. Kalpana Limbu scored 31 points to win the ladies' section trophy while Shastika Shrestha ended up runner up with 26 points.
Likewise, Maj Mani Prasad Rai was the winner in the senior section category with 27 points. Tashi Sherpa bagged the Longest Drive award while Miran Kim claimed the closest-to-the-pin honour at the 17th hole. Niraj SJB Rana sank two birdies to win the Most Birdies award while Uma Tiwari was handed over the best sportsmanship award.
In all 65 golfers -- 59 men and six ladies -- took part in the tournament organised by the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC). RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba and RNGC Captain Rabindra Man Shrestha among others gave away the prizes to the winners.
