Brazil's Dunga names Kaka to replace injured Douglas Costa

RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazil coach Dunga has called up Orlando City midfielder Kaka to replace Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa, who is out of the Copa America Centenario with an injured left thigh.

The loss of Costa leaves Brazil without two of its best young players. Barcelona star Neymar is skipping the tournament next month in the United States, opting for Brazil's team in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in August.

Kaka, 34, was a member of Brazil's squad at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

The Copa America medical committee on Friday also approved roster changes for Panama and Paraguay.

Panama's Martin Gomez will replace Ismael Diaz, while Paraguay adds Ivan Piris and Victor Ayala. Piris replaces Pablo Aguilar, and Ayala fills in for Nestor Ortigoza.

The 16-country tournament opens June 3 in Santa Clara, California, with the United States facing Colombia.
