Brigade Boys relegated
Kathmandu, February 20:
Brigade Boys Club (BBC) was relegated from the upper division following a goalless draw between Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) and Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) in the Martyrs Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football here today.
Even if BBC win their remaining two matches, they will not surpass JYC, who are just above the relegation zone. BBC have 10 points from 24 games, seven less than JYC. Another struggling team Saraswoti Youth Club have 14 from 24 matches.
BBC were promoted to the upper division after they won the ‘B’ Division League in 2004/05. BBC finished ninth in the last two seasons. Anil Gurung (now with MMC) and Milan Chandra Rai played a crucial role in their survival in 2004/05 while joint highest goal scorer Obagbemiro Junior (now at the Nabil Three Star) rescued the team last year.
BBC is also the only team to have conceded 10 goals twice in the ‘A’ Division league. Three Star beat them 10-0 in 2004/05 before Tribhuvan Army club crushed them with the same margin this season. The only other team to concede 10 goals is Naxal Youth Club against MMC in 2000/01.
