Cabaye winner as Palace beats Southampton 1-0

LONDON: Yohan Cabaye scored a first-half winner for Crystal Palace in a 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday as the teams continued to head in opposite directions in the Premier League.

The France midfielder tapped home in the 38th minute after good work by lively winger Yannick Bolasie, sealing Palace's first win in 13 Premier League matches between the two teams.

Southampton has failed to win any of its last four games, while Palace is unbeaten in three and is challenging for a top-four place in what could be a breakthrough season in Alan Pardew's first full campaign back in charge of the team.

Recalled goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga kept Southampton in the match, producing a series of brilliant saves at Selhurst Park. Shane Long squandered Southampton's best chance.
