KATHMANDU, MAY 16

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially lifted the suspension imposed on Sandeep Lamichhane. This decision comes in the wake of the Patan High Court's ruling on Wednesday, which acquitted Lamichhane of charges in a rape case, overturning the earlier verdict by the Kathmandu District Court that had found him guilty.

The bench, presided over by Justices Sudarshandev Bhatt and Anju Upreti, overturned the District Court's decision, thus absolving Lamichhane of the charges brought against him.

Previously, the Kathmandu District Court had convicted Lamichhane in the same rape case, sentencing him to eight years in prison along with a fine. This conviction had led CAN to suspend Lamichhane from all cricket activities, both domestically and internationally.
