Kathmandu, June 21:
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is likely to get a new executive committee in a month.
Kishor Bahadur Singh, care taker member secretary of National Sports Council, said that he was planning to dissolve the CAN and form a new body ‘soon’. “There is no unity among the CAN members and we found that the association is getting involved in unnecessary hassles,” said Singh, who is leaving for Sri Lanka on Wednesday to participate in the meeting for 10th SAF Games. CAN has been criticised for their unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign, Roller controversy, and the Asia Cup ‘fiasco’. “We are planning to form a new body after I return from Sri Lanka,” said Singh. He also said that he would request the SAF Games organisers about the inclusion of below-60kg bouts in Wushu. Right now only above-60kgs bout are a part of the Games. “Nepal has a fair chance to win medals in the bouts below 60kg sections, and I will raise this issue in the meeting,” he said. “I will also talk about women’s karate as the organisers have included just four weight category bouts,” he added.
