CAN name 23 probables for ACC T20 Tournament

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the 23 probables for the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup cricket tournament slated for November 4-13 in the United Arab Emirates.

Pushpa Thapa, Ajay Rajbanshi, Rajkumar Pradhan and Anil Mandal were selected from Region-I (Biratnagar), while national team skipper Binod Das, Sanjam Regmi and Anil Mandal are from Region-II (Birgunj). Paras Khadka, Paresh Lohani, Sharad Vesawakar, Gyanendra Malla, Pramod Basnet and Dipendra Chaudhary were picked from Region-III (Kathmandu).

Likewise, four players — Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Rahul BK and Amrit Bhattarai — found their names from Region-IV (Bhairahawa), whereas Mahesh Chhetri and Anupam Singh are from Region-V (Nepalgunj). Binod Bhandari, Prem Budal, Chandra Saud and Naresh Budhayer are from Region-VI (Baitadi).

The National Selection Committee headed by Arun Kumar Aryal named the players for the camp beginning in October. The players were selected as per their performance in the Springwood T20 National Cricket Tournament held from June 2-12 in Kathmandu, said CAN in a release. Kathmandu had won the tournament beating Bhairahawa by two runs in the final.

Nepal are preparing for their second participation in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup. In the first edition of the event in 2007, Nepal failed to make it to the second round after two wins and as many losses in Kuwait.
