Chaudhary Group to provide cricket governing body with Rs 37.7 million in five years

KATHMANDU, APRIL 12

Nepal Cricket Association and Chaudhary Group renewed the sponsorship deal for the overall development of youth cricket.

CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand and Chaudhary Group Managing Director Nirvana Chaudhary exchanged the memorandum of understanding amidst a programme today.

The two parties renewed the deal after a gap of couple of years. Chaudhary Group's Wai Wai had been the sponsor of the U-19 cricket for more than a decade in the past.

As per the deal, Chaudhary Group will provide the CAN with seven million rupees per year and the cricket governing body will use the amount - Rs 37.7 million in five years - for the national and international tournaments of boys' U-19 team. In return, Wai Wai will be the main sponsor of the U-19 domestic events and the team's international participation.

Chaudhary Group MD Nirvana Chaudhary termed U-19 cricket as the base of senior team. "We chose to support U-19 cricket as it is the base for a strong senior side. We believe Chaudhary Group has contributed in the development of cricket in the past and we will keep supporting the sport," said Chaudhary. "We are happy to be a part of cricket family again," he added.

CAN President Chand said cricketing activities were not possible without the help of sponsors. "We are happy to get the opportunity to renew the deal and we strongly believe this association will help in the development of cricket," he added.
