Kathmandu, September 18:

The Carlsberg Golf Classic 2008 is teeing off here at the Royal Nepal Golf Course on Friday. More than 100 golfers have registered for the two-day event, which is being organised by Royal Nepal Golf Club under the sponsorship of Gorkha Brewery Pvt Ltd, the makers of Carlsberg beer.

The winner of the tournament will get an opportunity to represent Nepal in the Pro-Am event of the Macau Open 2008. The sponsor, Carlsberg, will bear all the expenses for the winner. According to the organisers, the winner will be playing with prominent golfers including Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev in Macau.

Carlsberg has been sending the winners of the tournament to various international tournaments. Dawa Sherpa and Maj N K Rai, the winners of the previous editions of the Carlsberg Golf Classic, have played in the Carlsberg Malaysian Open.
