CCRC, DAV register easy wins
Kathmandu, December 25 :
CCRC defeated Kantipur City College (KCC) by 82 runs and DAV beat SM College by eight wickets in the Thakur Nath Pant Memorial Inter-college Cricket Tournament here today.
Put into bat first, CCRC were all out for 123 in 17.5 overs. In reply, KCC failed to cope up with the fierce bowling of national players and were restricted to 41 runs in 12.1 overs. Allrounder Mehboob Alam top-scored with 14-ball 21 for CCRC while Sanjam Regmi (17), Pramod Basnet (15) and Anil Mandal (13) chipped in with valuable runs to the CCRC total. T Rajan claimed four wickets and Ram Naresh Yadav took three for KCC.
Dhan Bahadur Chhetri (16) fought a lonely battle in KCC’s run chase. Six of their batsmen got out for duck. Man of the match Alam completed a five-wicket haul (8-5) in four overs while Sharad Pokharel and Abhaya Rana picked up two wickets each.
In the second game, SM College scored 92-9 in their allotted 20 overs and DAV chased the total in 11.2 overs losing three wickets. Jitendra Raj scored unbeaten 17 and Binod Khadka chipped in with 12 runs for SM College. Chandra Gurung bagged three wickets while Radhay Shyam Mishra and Mohammed Hussian took two wickets each for DAV.
Man of the match Hussian scored unbeaten 53 off 31 balls to pave an easy win for DAV. Sagar Panta remained not out on 25. Dayaram Kafle took two wickets and Jitendra Raj Bhandari one for SM College.
