Chelsea awaits Terry's reply after offering him another year

LONDON: Chelsea says captain John Terry has been offered a contract for another season and the club is awaiting his response.

The 35-year-old Terry is out of contract at the end of this season and in January said he would not be extending his stay.

Following a sending off, Terry is suspended for the final game of the Premier League season against champion Leicester on Sunday.

Chelsea says the contract extension was offered to Terry this week during a meeting with Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia.

Chelsea says "with it coming so late in the season, this is a big decision for John and his family and it is something that they are now considering."
