Chyasal, Machhindra play goalless draw

Lalitpur, October 10

Chyasal Youth Club and Machhindra Youth Club played a goalless draw in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Chyasal were unlucky in the seventh minute when they missed a chance from close range. Bishwa Adhikari’s shot hit the cross bar after taking a deflection to a defender. Santa Bahadur Gurung missed a chance in one-to-one situation moments later.

Chyasal created chances in the second half also but they failed to find the back of the nets. In the 53rd minute, Bimal’s free kick from the edge of the area hit the post. Chyasal came close to scoring in the 65th minute but Sajin Thapa Magar filed to score in open nets.

Chyasal missed a penalty in the 76th minute after Anjan Devkota brought down Bimal inside the box. Hemanta Thapa Magar stepped up to take the shot but Machhindra goalkeeper Deep Karki saved his shot.

Chyasal coach Raju Kaji Shakya said the first match of the league was not as expected. “We had come with a mindset of winning the match but we failed to give our best because of the poor midfield,” said Shakya. “The players are yet to get up and we learned lessons from the match,” he added.

Machhindra coach Dhaneshwor Prajapati was happy with the outcome of the match. “Our aim was to snatch a point and we were able to do that,” said Prajapati. “I’m satisfied with my boys’ performance and the defence played really well.”
