Chyasal Youth hit Delhi for six

Valley Chyasal Youth Club thrashed Delhi Football Club 6-0 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the third Nepal Ice Farwest Khaptad Gold Cup here at the Dhangadhi Stadium today.

Armand Moyen scored a hat-trick, while Sanjog Rai, Hemant Thapa Magar and Santa Bahadur Gurung netted one goal each for the A Division outfit who finished eighth in the recently-concluded Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League.

Chyasal took an early lead in the 14th minute when through Sanjog Rai scored an easy goal following a pass from Elvis. Hemant Thapa Magar doubled the tally in the 31st minute after his 25-yard shot hit the inside edge of the cross bar before entering the goal.

Moyen then scored three goals to complete his hat-trick. He made it 3-0 in the 40th minute with a powerful strike from the box following a long pass from Sanjog Rai leaving Delhi goalkeeper Madip stranded. Moyen extended the lead in the 61st minute when he utilised the pass from Yogesh Gurung.

Moyen then completed his treble in the 73rd minute after Delhi custodian Mandip failed to stop a weak-looking shot. Santa Bahadur Gurung completed the scoring with the team’s sixth goal in the injury time of the match. Moyen won the man-of-the-match award, sponsored by RK Construction, and he received Rs 10,000.

Chyasal coach Raju Kaji Shakya lauded his players for the emphatic victory despite playing in a completely new pitch.

“The grounds was new for the players but the forward line played exceptionally well,” said Shakya, whose side will now play against their A Division rivals and neighbours Ruslan Three Star Club, who had a first-round bye.

Delhi coach BS Mehra said the team missed the services of their key players.

On Friday, Gorkha Boys Club of Rupandehi will take on CMG Club Sankata.
