Classic enter semi-finals

Kathmandu, January 28:

Classic College advanced to the semi-finals from Group ‘A’ after their seven-wicket win over White House in the National Campus Twenty20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Laboratory School grounds today.

White House scored 108-9 after electing to bat first and Classic College surpassed the total for the loss of three wickets in 13.3 overs. Diwas Thakuri scored 21-ball 31 and Bidhan Giri 22 off 18 for White House. Pratyaksha Panta, Kuldeep Khadka and Puskar Raut took two wickets each for Classic.

In reply, Classic overcame the total in the 14th over with man of the match Kuldeep

contributing 32 off 20 balls. Naresh Budhayer and Niraj Chand scored unbeaten on

27 runs each. Rajesh Chaudhary took all three wicket for White House.

In another match, Universal College defeated DAV by eight wickets. DAV scored 111-5 and Universal overcame the total losing two wickets in 13.3 overs. Man of the match Bhuwan Shrestha struck unbeaten 40 off 18 balls and also claimed one wicket for Universal.

At the Tribhuvan University Stadium, Times International College beat Bagmati College by 43 runs and St Xavier’s beat New Summit by three wickets.

Sanjay Shrestha scored 56 and Rajan Khadgi 42 as Times accumulated 157-3 before restricting Bagmati to 114-5 in their allotted 19 overs. Abhinaya Khatiwada (51) also completed a half century for Bagmati. In the second game at TU Stadium, New Summit were all out for 107 in 18.5 overs and St Xavier’s overcame the total in the last ball of their innings.
