Club Golf C’ship from Saturday
Kathmandu, October 23:
The McDowell’s Signature Club Golf Championship qualifier is teeing off here at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa on Saturday.
More than 80 Nepali golfers will vie for the six spots to form a club team for the Regional Finals. The Eastern Region comprises nine teams and the Regional Finals will be held at the Beldih and Golmuri Clubs in Jamshedpur in November. This will be the second time that a Nepali club will be playing in the tournament.
As a whole, the intra-club tournaments will bring together over 4,800 golfers representing 32 top golf clubs from 20 cities across India and Nepal. The final is slated for December in Bali.
The event is being played in a three-tier format, with the first stage held at all 32 clubs, where members of each club play amongst each other to select the Club Team, said the organisers.
The second stage will be the Regional Finals, where each club team play against the other clubs in the region to decide the Regional Champion. The regional winners will then clash to decide the champion.
