DHARAN: Terhathum and Dhankuta shared points each after playing a 2-2 draw during an inaugural match of the Province 1 Chief Minister Cup Football League tournament in Dharan on Tuesday.

Santosh Limbu of Terhathum scored a brace in the 9th and 11th minute and gave his team a 2-0 lead in an enthralling encounter at Dharan Stadium today.

However, Dhankuta equalised through Babas Lawati and Sanjaya Ramtel in the 19th and 33rd minute of the first half. In the second half, both the teams created numerous opportunities to score goals but to no avail.

Tehrathum will lock their horns against Sunsari tomorrow. Tehrathum, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha are pitted in Group B. Similarly, Udayapur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Morang and Okhaldhunga are in Group A. Likewise, Ilam, Jhapa, Taplejung, Panchthar are in Group C.

The winner and runner-up of each group will advance into the knockout phase of the competition to be held in Biratnagar, according to organisers.
