Coca-Cola Cup kicks off on Tuesday

LALITPUR: The Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school National Football

Tournament is scheduled to kick off at the Dasharath Stadium from Tuesday.

A total of 12 teams have qualified for the final round of the tournament organised by

the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and sponsored

by the Bottlers Nepal Limited. The teams fought their way into the final rounds following selection tournaments participated in by 468 schools throughout the country.

Dreamland English Medium School, Sautha Higher Secondary School and Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya are in Group ‘A’, while Thekraj Secondary School, Janak Boarding English School and Little Moon High School are in Group ‘B’.

Likewise, the Group ‘C’ comprises of Siddhartha Boarding School, Gandaki Boarding School and Arunodaya Secondary School, whereas

Radhika Secondary School, Shanti Nikunja Boarding School and RIBS are in Group ‘D’. Winners from each of the four groups will qualify for

the semi-finals, said the organisers at a press meet. The championship match is scheduled for August 17.

The top four teams will earn Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000. Managing Director of Bottlers Nepal Limited Saumendra Bhattacharya announced that the company would take the winning team for a tour to Kolkata in January next year during the FIFA World Cup Trophy tour.

The organisers also revealed that four best individuals — goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward — will get the opportunity to train at the Tata Football Academy for two weeks in January next year.

Social Secondary School of Pokhara, Sautha Higher

Secondary School of Biratnagar, Gyan Kunja Boarding School of Pokhara and Don Bosco Nilgiri Secondary

School were the top four teams respectively in the last edition of the tournament.

ANFA Senior Vice-president Mahesh Bista, Vice-president and Spokesperson Lalit

Krishna Shrestha and joint-secretary Dhirendra Pradhan among others were present

on the occasion.
