CYC Attariya and Rupandehi Challengers get off to winning start in DPL

DHANGADHI: CYC Attariya and Rupandehi Challengers have got off to winning start in the Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Premier League played at Seti Zone Police Office Ground in Dhangadhi on Monday.

CYC Attariya defeated Kathmandu Goldens by 40 runs and Rupandehi Challengers edged Kanchanpur Iconic by 14 runs respectively.

CYC Attariya opted to bat first, Yogendra Singh Karki's 57 runs set the tone, Gyanendra Kuwar's 34 not out helped to set the challenging score of 147 runs for victory.

Sompal Kami took two wickets in his four overs spell to restrict CYC Attariya to a decent total.

In reply, Kathmandu Goldens managed to mustered only 106 runs loosing all wickets in 18.4 overs of allotted 20 overs game.

Avinash Bohara and Binod Lama tormented Kathmandu Goldens batting line-up sharing seven wickets between them. Bohara was pick of the bowler with four scalps.

Sompal Kami and Santosh Bhatta scored 40 runs and 31 runs respectively in loosing cause.

Avinash Bohara was awarded man of the match.

Similarly, Rupandehi Challengers captained by veteran spinner Shakti Gauchan started the tournament with a bang.

Batting first, Rupandehi posted 145 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Harish Sah top scored with 33 runs and Prakash KC contributed 26 runs.

Shankar Rana and Shakti Gauchan contributed 19 runs and 16 runs respectively.

Kanchanpur Iconic's bowler Kushal Bhurtel and Avinash Karn shared six wickets between them as Bhurtel took four wickets.

In reply, Kanchanpur Iconic were folded for 131 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Sagar Pun top scored with 39 runs in loosing cause. Sunil Dhamala contributed 28 runs and Kushal Bhurtel chipped in with 27 runs.

Rupandehi's bowler Krishna Karki and Sahab Alam took three wickets each. Captain Shakti Gauchan claimed two scalps.

Later, Krishna Karki was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his overall performance in team's victory.

In tomorrow's game, Biratnagar Kings will take on Team Chauraha Dhangadhi. Kathmandu Golden will take on Kanchanpur Iconic in other second game.
